News from ACP as well as art news from around the world...

Asia Art Tours

ACP is planning a series of three art exhibitions in Asia over the next several years, as follows:

  • Face-to-Face, 2020: U.S. and Chinese art
  • Real Realism, 2020: Socialist Realism and Ukrainian contemporary art
  • The Art of Europe, 2020: European art

Tour cities include Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai, as well as Tokyo, Seoul, and Singapore.

Over the past five years the art market in China has been the strongest growing in the world, and the most important of the emerging markets, both in terms of the size of its domestic sales and the international significance of its buyers. In 2011, China ran a trade deficit in art as it has since 2000, with imports of just over 1.0 billion euro exceeding exports of 589 million euro, reflecting its importance worldwide as a buyer of art.

Chinese artists are among the top ten world artists by auction sales turnover in 2012. The market includes Zhang Daqian (US $287 million), Qi Baishi (US $270 million), and Xu Beihong (US $176 million), in comparison with Picasso (US $286 million) and Richter (US $263 million).

Considering the specifics of the Chinese art market and preferences of most buyers, ACP is launching galleries in Hong Kong and Beijing to represent art of different times and directions.
